Reference to the status of separate, independent works that are less grand or considered less important than other separate, independent "primary works." An example would be in a country estate, the country house may be considered the primary work, and the surrounding cottages may be considered secondary works. For works that are part of or integrally associated with primary works, use "ancillary works."
